Mother's Day Weekend with Kermit

I planned a trip for Mother's Day weekend to Homosassa River RV Resort with my wife, mom and her dog Max. This would be our first chance to take out the new 2016 Ford Expedition EL XLT I bought last week with Kermit and we were excited.

For the truck, everything worked out great. I had measured the tongue of the trailer and the ball hight of the hitch and had everything realigned the day before so all would be smooth going. Once coupled up to the truck and our Blue Ox anti sway system was connected, everything lined up perfect.

My mom and I then loaded up Kermit (our 19' travel trailer) Friday morning and when Sonja got off work Friday afternoon, we picked her up and headed out. Homosassa is only about an hour and a half away so we had a pretty easy and quick trip and the truck did awesome.

Once we arrived at the Homosassa River RV Resort, we were met by a very friendly staff. The site we were given was perfect and level side to side. Our site also had full hook-ups (water, 30 and 50 amp service, sewer, free wi-fi and cable tv) and we even had a concrete pad on the side. The resort also had a pool, shuffle board, horseshoes and a nice bath house with showers.

I chose this RV resort because it is so close to several attractions such as Homosassa Springs, Homosassa Wildlife Refuge, Crystal River and Three Sisters Springs just to name a few.

After setting up, we cooked dinner and hung out for the night. We met our RV neighbors, Alex and Amy who were out with their new travel trailer for the second time.

Unfortunately on our second day which was our only full day, it rained most the day. We took this opportunity to head in to town and do some shopping for several RV upgrades we wanted to complete. We ended up replacing the 19" stock TV with a 24" Samsung Smart TV, adding Roku, a wireless network and several other small upgrades. On our way back from shopping, we picked up a pizza from Moschello's Pizza which was awesome.

By late afternoon, it had finally stopped raining and we were able to get out and take in some sights. Unfortunately all the parks were closed by this time.  We ended up heading over to the Monkey Bar to view the monkeys on Monkey Island. If you ever make it to the area, you need to check it out. There are 5 monkeys on this small island which are cared for by the locals. After that we headed over to Fort Island Beach in Crystal River where we saw people fishing on the pier and some kite boarding. This about completed day two.

For our final day, since it was raining a little bit again, we decided after breakfast to pack up and head home.

Below are just a few photos I captured of the RV Resort we stayed at since there was not much more we could do. We will definitely be back and hopefully have better weather so we can do some exploring.
