We wanted to get away for the day so we just started driving. On the road, we opened up Google Maps, zoomed the map in, and looked for a location we had never visited before. We decided to head toward Mount Dora, Florida. Once in the area, we found a place on the map called Trimble Park since it was surrounded by lakes. We also discovered that Trip Advisor has Trimble Park ranked as number 4 of the top things to do in Mount Dora.
As we arrived at Trimble Park, we noticed it was RV-friendly with a nice campground and group camping area. We drove back to the day-use area which had a wonderful playground, covered and uncovered picnic tables, a boat dock, a fishing dock, and hiking trails.
We picked a nice covered and quaint spot next to Lake Beauclair to have our lunch before we went hiking. Sonja prepared us a wonderful lunch with various kinds of cheese, crackers, grapes, and a couple of amazing salads. She even brought a couple of cannolis and a little bit of wine (shhh) to top it off.
After lunch, we took off for our hike. We followed the shoreline of Lake Beauclair all the way out to an area called “The Point.” There was a park bench at the point where we were able to sit and relax with the breeze blowing as we watched several boats pass by. The Point connects Lake Beauclair with Lake Carlton.
As we left The Point, we followed the shoreline of Lake Carlton and ended up on a beautiful boardwalk. The boardwalk was surrounded by trees full of moss flowing in the wind and small waves rolling in from the lake. There were benches along the boardwalk and even a swinging bench on the boardwalk.
Trimble Park was an amazing place to visit and we will definitely be back to use their campground and go fishing. Below are just a few of the photos I was able to capture at the park and during our hike.
If you are ever in central Florida and in the area of Mount Dora, you need to visit Trimble Park. This falls on one of my top places to visit and explore in central Florida.
