Boondocking - I-75 Rest Area in Ft Myers Florida

We had already been on one adventure today, but had plans for a couple more tomorrow. So we decided to head out late Saturday night for Ft Myers, Florida where we would find a place to boondock in our car. We were thinking either a rest area along I-75 if there was one close enough, or we could visit a local Walmart or truck stop.

As we got near the exit we wanted for the next days first adventure, there was a rest area sign for a couple of miles ahead. So we headed there and took up camp for the night in our car. As this was our first time camping out in our car we were not sure what to expect. We put up a blanket covering the windows on one side of the car and a sun screen in the front window to help block out all the light shining in from the street lights. It was a bit uncomfortable, but we made it trough the night.

We set our alarms so we could get up bright and early to have our breakfast (which we had packed in a cooler) and use the rest area facilities to freshen up and get ready. This was definitely an experience and now we know a little better how to plan for the next time we decide to boondock in the car. Extra pillows, blankets and some comfortable clothing to wear. We did create a short video after waking up which you can view on our YouTube channel.
